jvnkosu! Privacy Policy

Introduction

jvnkosu! is an open-source rhythm game with optional online services.
This privacy policy applies to first-party online services at osu.jvnko.boats, as well as official client builds utilising these services.
We try to only collect necessary data to make jvnkosu! function and give you control.

This is not entirely a legal document, but it should give an insight into what data we collect, for what purposes it's used, and what control each user has over said data.

Definitions

Online services are jvnkosu!'s official servers, located at osu.jvnko.boats and other relevant subdomains ending in .jvnko.boats.
Game client is the open-source jvnkosu! client, with source code and official builds avaiable at https://gitea.jvnko.boats/jvnkosu/client.

Collected data

The following data may be collected by official game client builds, as well as custom client builds connecting to the Online services, with or without an account:

  • Diagnostic data
    • Includes: Operating system, active screen, active beatmap, release version, active ruleset, user ID, username, CPU core count, game runtime logs.
    • This data is not shared with third parties and is used solely for diagnostic purposes.

The following data is collected by the Online services with an account:

  • IP address and country when accessing them in any way.
    • This data is not used or stored unless an account is used.
    • This data is used for rate limiting, country leaderboards, and security purposes, like preventing bruteforce attempts.
  • Username, password, email when registering an account.
    • Passwords are stored as salted bcrypt hashes.
  • Avatars, profile covers, and profile data when editing a profile.
    • Profile data includes location, occupation, interests, and other publicly accessible data of a user profile.
  • Any information you upload to publicise, such as beatmaps.
    • Beatmaps may not be deleted once they are ranked (i.e. they become elegible for setting public scores on)
  • Client version when logging into the game client.
  • Client version, client's MD5 hash, replay (.osr) when submitting a score and finalizing it.
    • Non-failed scores and replays on Loved, Ranked, Qualified, or Approved beatmaps are made public.

Data shared with third parties

We may share your information if...

  • You have expressly made data public (edited a user profile, uploaded a beatmap)

Rights and control

  • You may edit public-facing profile data using the User settings section on our website.
  • You may access all of your account data stored on the Online services using the osu! API.
  • You may individually delete beatmaps, forum posts, uploaded pictures
  • You may request deletion of all of your data by contacting us at jvnkosu-accounts at jvnko dot boats.
    • Please note that account deletion is a manual process and may take some time to complete.

Cookies

jvnkosu! uses cookies, just like any other services.
They are only used for saving credentials and maintaining session state.
